Enter the Agon! The Greek Contest

    January 17, 2023 / No Comments

Enter the Agon! The Greek Contest Written by Shawn Funk The Greeks! Strength, beauty, and wisdom, they possessed all. In a short time, they made significant progress in the arts, athletics, science, and politics, resulting in what some call a golden age for humanity. By now, we are aware of our Greek inheritance in the above mentioned disciplines; I will not discuss them further. I am interested, however, in how the Greeks became great. What was it about the Greek culture that allowed its citizens to create the monumental works that have since become normative in the western canon? Where did such a vital force originate? Why Do Chinese Kung Fu Masters Keep Getting Beat Up?

    January 17, 2023 / No Comments

Why Do Chinese Kung Fu Masters Keep Getting Beat Up? Written by Andres Salazar May 2017 was the home of one of the most controversial cultural moments in recent Chinese history. This moment sparked immense controversy in China, putting doubt on the effectiveness of traditional Chinese martial arts, as well as…

    The Singularity is Ne’er

    January 17, 2023 / No Comments

The Singularity is Ne’er Written by Shawn Funk The futurist’s job is to project current trends far into the future and make bold predictions about the world of tomorrow based on these trends. Ray Kurzweil is bold indeed. He posits the idea of a technological singularity, a moment in time when artificial intelligence (AI) eclipses the intelligence of the smartest human beings, leading to a technological explosion and super-intelligent AI (Schneider, 2016). This statement is loaded with assumptions which I will not mention. Instead, I am just going to assume it is all true and have some fun. I will add that as it stands, we are far from developing…

Meeting Your Inner Child Written by Lauryn Evans When was the last time you thought of your childhood self, and what came to mind? Maybe you were reminiscing about your favourite childhood shows, foods, or stories.
