Shawn completed the two-week workshop, Short Story Mechanics, and has given us all the pros and cons of the class designed for new story writers! ⁠ ⁠ Scroll through to read Shawn's short story "Good Boy: A Six Sentence Story." The story was written using the structure taught in the workshop. Each sentence represents one structural component: narrative hook, rising tension, conflict, setting, mood/theme, and resolution. The Meliorist (ME-LEE-OR-IST) is the University of Lethbridge’s independent, student-run publication.
In print since 1967, the publication showcases the creativity and academic accomplishments of ULeth students through their analyses of current events, arts and culture, and the policies and practices of both the University and its Students’ Union.
The publication is guided by the philosophy of Meliorism, which holds that humans can make the world a better place through intentional action.
