0 Global martial artists to compete in Southern Alberta on July 4–5, 2026
Lethbridge will welcome competitors from across Canada and around the world this weekend as it hosts the Tae Kwon-Do International (TKDI) World Cup, taking place July 4 and 5 at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre.
Organized by United Traditional Tae Kwon-Do Canada (UTTC), the event will bring together athletes of all ages and skill levels for two days of international competition. Divisions will feature youth, junior, adult, and black belt competitors competing in patterns and sparring events, including team patterns, black belt team sparring, and the International Team Black Belt Sparring division.
The tournament will also welcome 19 Grand Masters representing countries from around the world. Among the distinguished guests is Pioneer Grand Master C.K. Choi, O.C., recognized as the world’s first Tae Kwon-Do champion. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet renowned martial arts authors Grand Master Peter Sanders, Grand Master Phap Lu, and Master Alex Gillis, whose book A Killing Art: The Untold History of Tae Kwon-Do explores the origins and development of Tae Kwon-Do. The authors will participate in a public book signing on Saturday, July 4.
