On Friday night, Pronghorn Athletics hosted their annual Blue and Gold Banquet to honor their outstanding athletes in athletic performance and academic achievement. Over 260 athletes, administrators, and special guests were in attendance for the supper and awards ceremony at the Lethbridge Lodge. The guest speaker for the event was former Pronghorn Daryl Moore.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were emerging as Stanley Cup favourites before the world’s best hockey player returned to their line-up. Led by Art Ross and Hart candidate Evgeni Malkin who has been playing out of his mind, the Penguins looked like they might win their second cup in four years. The Pronghorns have been working hard all year, and all their hard work has finally paid off. Every team will be awarded the Canadian World Championships at the university level. Olympics will be next on the athletes’ radar – the raw amount of talent cannot go unnoticed by the world. Unfortunately the women’s rugby team haven’t been as fortunate. After losing every game in the season, the ladies will have to hang their head in shame as they watch their fellow athletes receive the prestigious award. Better luck next year!
