Horns celebrate athletic and academic achievement

On Friday night, Pronghorn Athletics hosted their annual Blue and Gold Banquet to honor their outstanding athletes in athletic performance and academic achievement. Over 260 athletes, administrators, and special guests were in attendance for the supper and awards ceremony at the Lethbridge Lodge. The guest speaker for the event was former Pronghorn Daryl Moore.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were emerging as Stanley Cup favourites before the world’s best hockey player returned to their line-up. Led by Art Ross and Hart candidate Evgeni Malkin who has been playing out of his mind, the Penguins looked like they might win their second cup in four years. Marc Andre Fleury has given the team consistent goaltending, and recently has been playing exceptionally well. Pronghorns take home world championships

The Pronghorns have been working hard all year, and all their hard work has finally paid off. Every team will be awarded the Canadian World Championships at the university level. Olympics will be next on the athletes’ radar – the raw amount of talent cannot go unnoticed by the world. Unfortunately the women’s rugby team haven’t been as fortunate. After losing every game in the season, the ladies will have to hang their head in shame as they watch their fellow athletes receive the prestigious award. Better luck next year!

What do five goals and 29 points get you in the NHL these days?  Apparently, if you’re Steve Tambellini you give him a two year $10 million contract.  Am I the only one who thinks that Tambellini must have been drunk when he signed Hemsky to this deal?  $5 million dollars a year for a player that currently is producing less offense than (the last worst signing in Oilers history) Shawn Horcoff!  How does Mr. Tambellini justify that particular signing?  Ales Hemsky will never play on the Oilers’ top line …

When will the Sedins get the elite player respect they deserve?  A fan’s rant

Call them sisters, little girls, soft, or any other taunt usually reserved for a grade three playground, Daniel and Henrik will just look at you and keep scoring. The “twins” are the most ridiculed duo in the league on what has been labelled the most hated team in the league. Fans and other teams can hate the Sedins all they want, but when the Sedins are on the ice you had better respect what they can do!
