The first Clubs Council meeting of the 2008/09 academic year was cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled for Wednesday, October 1. When asked why, Vice President Internal Eric Hawthorne replied that agenda items were not completed and there was a last-minute scheduling conflict.
The new banking measures approved by the General Assembly on September 10 require paperwork to be filled out by the Students’ Union before passing it on to the individual clubs to complete their background signing authority. Due to several outside factors, this was not finished in time.

The Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group (LPIRG) is dedicated to helping students expand their horizons through research, activism and events. Since LPIRG is funded by a five-dollar levy from the undergraduate, the money can only be accessed by people in that category and anything being funded by LPIRG has to somehow serve the public interest. To help bring people together, the group also organizes events such as film series and concerts. In the last week, our fair institution was visited by not one, but two ladies named Naomi. Of course, being different individuals, they each had their own style, though Klein may be more well-known to most Canadians since she is a Canuck.
Naomi Wolf gave an interesting lecture tracing the descent of America into fascism, which was downright scary (see editorial and news sections for details). Her talk focused mainly on the body of her book ”The End of America”.

On behalf of the voluntary sector and specifically for the Manager’s of Volunteer Resources, I would like to thank the students who worked so diligently to put together a very successful Volunteer Fair. The efforts of the organizing committee were greatly appreciated. Thank you to the University for the support they offered to the group during the planning and implementation of the fair.
